Well, it worked.

I feel asleep for so long Thage had to wake me up. But it was nice. I will say this, the main dream I remember having was an "ideal date" dream. I think most of the girls around here should know what I'm talking about- nondescript man takes you to the place you would want a real guy to take you and does everything perfectly. But, um, I remember the man being Thage instead. Kind of awkward when she woke me up, I think. Thage, if you're reading this, you seem to be invading my dreams, haha! Anyway, I feel refreshed now, but as soon as I woke up, reality came crashing back in. Everything that needs to be done is now front and center in my mind again, and I'm worrying myself sick again.

Back to normal, I guess. I've been reading up on him during my stay here. I think everyone knows by now that he's been sighted over the years since...well, a very long time ago. It's shocking and, to be honest, the scariest thing about him, I think. He can do so many things to hurt you, sure, and he has these abilities and presence that defy everything about our world, yes. But the fact that he's been around since God knows when, luring people to the shadows and driving them insane with paranoia and fear...he's something ancient, something that is way out of our league. And we're trying to combat him, figure out weaknesses, and generally do something before our time runs out.

I'm not a fighter. I never have been, never will be. I just want to figure out how to get my daughter back safe and sound. I can't fight this thing. And maybe this is being a coward. But this creature cannot be defined or figured out because it's something that seems to defy reality. So honestly, I don't ever want to try and find anything about it. I'll stick with the people.

Take care of yourselves.

  1. So he is ancient? I figured that was the case.

Glad to see the hypnotism worked. We need breaks from reality every now and then. :]

  2. I must say, that sounds *very* awkward. Heh.

Yes, He is old. A creature like this couldn't be spawned by our thoughts, unless someone was simply.... sadistic, believing Him to be a killer, an unstoppable killer.

I also must say that we have the same, yet different point of view on something. We care the most about the people, but I'm so stubborn that I fight back in any way I can. Even if it means just pissing Him off.

  3. He maybe ancient, but that doesn't mean he is unknowable or unstoppable. We just need to keep pressing forward after all there are billions of us and only one or two of him.

  4. It's a predator that hunts humans, just like lions hunt zebras or humans hunt deer. It's perfectly equipped for the job, because It can prey on our weaknesses, our fears. But at the end of the day, It's not perfect. It relies primarily on manipulation, and once that fact is realized, you can act against it.

  5. It is horrifying how long it has been around. Makes me wonder how many things it's been responsible for though out human history. Still, I'm a big fan of knowledge=power.

I'm glad you got some sleep. It doesn't make things better, but it certainly helps make them less horrible.

  6. To Rebecca- Yes, I keep seeing him pop in old books and drawings. It's certainly troubling.

To Shelby- It really was- I guess that's what happens when I don't sleep as much as I should.
I honestly don't want to make him angry because he has my daughter.

To Will- I guess so. I believe there's only one. And that truthfully makes this even scarier.

To Ryuu- I'm unsure if I should agree with that. From what I've read and seen, there's a pattern that exists, but once we start getting used to him, he may very well decide to do something completely new.

To Kay- Yes, it really does. I didn't even realize how tired I was. I'm glad Thage suggested it.

  7. There has never been a resistance against Him like there is right now. We're different than all the humans he has ever fought.

    We got him.

  8. Cathy - I'm glad it worked, at least temporarily. In the future, we should keep it to three or four hours, though. And I was in your dreams? Oh my.

Kaiju - Actually, from what I've read, the resistance in Roanoke is shaping up to be quite the battle.

Don't get overconfident. Hope and confidence are good, but to ignore that the Black King has been around since at least the time when Egypt was two and has yet to be handed a comprehensive defeat (that I can find among these texts, at any rate) is suicidal.
